A bit about me...

Hello, my name is Mark Appling Fisher, a photographer located in St. Louis, MIssouri.

I grew up in the small farming community of Montgomery City in East Central Missouri, attended the University of Missouri-St. Louis, where I received a B.A. in Music Education in 1972, and taught elementary music for 14 years. In 1979 I began a course of study in  film photography at the graduate level, eventually resulting in an M.A. in Black and White Photography from Lindenwood University in 1982.

I have been a teacher for more than forty years now, first as an elementary music teacher, then as a video production instructor and instructional media technologist for a large school district until my retirement in 2003. Since then I have taught black and white film photography at community colleges in my region, as well as alternative processes,  toy camera, plastic camera, and pinhole photography. While I love all things film, I find myself increasingly involved with digital photography, and in combining old and new processes.
